Lifeline Australia

Lifeline AustraliaLifeline Australia is Australia's largest mental health support service provider. MLC Community Foundation has been a proud supporter of Lifeline since 2008, helping to enhance their 24 hour telephone counselling service. Black Dog Institute

Black Dog Institute

The Black Dog Institute is a not-for-profit, educational, research, clinical and community-oriented facility offering specialist expertise in depression and bipolar disorder. The MLC Community Foundation is proud to be supporting the Black Dog Institute's Recovery Group Facilitator Training Program in rural and regional communities of NSW. This program will provide skills to a wide range of community organisations and increase the capacity of small service providers to cater for people with mood disorders in their communities. Mind Australia

Mind Australia

In 2009, Mind and the MLC Community Foundation came together as proud partners to pilot the Ambassadors of Hope program. This program is an early intervention initiative that aims to raise awareness of and reduce stigma around mental illness. It provides advice and education encouraging people to get support for their mental health concerns, and provides a positive forum for clients of Mind to share their experience of mental illness as part of their recovery journey. YMCA Sydney

YMCA Sydney

The YMCA of Sydney is dedicated to the growth of all persons in body, mind and spirit. The YMCA builds connections between people and improves people's holistic health and wellbeing. The MLC Community Foundation is supporting the Mental Health & Wellbeing Program aimed at the recovery of people feeling isolated, unmotivated and unsure due to an accumulation of adverse life events. the program aims to:

  1. Orientate those diagnosed with mental illness into a customised exercise program
  2. Eliminate or minimise factors which give rise to distress and loss of wellbeing
  3. Maximise factors that create the circumstances in which all can flourish

Youth Focus

Youth Focus

Youth Focus is a Western Australian, community based organisation working with young people, aged 12 to 18 years, who are showing early signs associated with suicide, depression and self-harm. The MLC Community Foundation will be providing support for an upcoming 'Peer Support Program' activity. It is through this therapeutic and content based process that Youth Focus can assist the emotional well-being of young people, developing their self worth and offering them the opportunity to reach their full potential. Affirm – Australian Foundation for Mental Health Research

Affirm – Australian Foundation for Mental Health ResearchAffirm is a unique research charity that supports excellence in research. The MLC Community Foundation has funded Affirm's project 'Are you depressed? Can you tell?' This project aims to develop new ways for the public to identify if they have anxiety or depression and therefore lead to faster identification, better assessment and earlier intervention. SANE Australia

SANE AustraliaThe MLC Community Foundations grant to SANE Australia, through their Friends in Business program, will support their project "SANE WorkSmart Employer", a national program to improve outcomes for people affected by a mental illness in Australian workplaces. This project is aimed at employers to support them in hiring and retaining employees affected by mental illness, either themselves or a family member. Visit SANE for more information.

StepUP Foundation

StepUP FoundationThe MLC Community Foundation is pleased that its final grant for 2008/09 will support StepUP events for Australian teenagers in key centres. StepUP events address key social issues for youth including dysfunctional relationships, violence, suicide and depression. Visit StepUP Foundation for more information.
