MLC Community Foundation

The MLC Community Foundation was established in 2008 to support Australian communities by investing in key areas of need and employee interest so that MLC can support the Australian population in recognition of its 120 year history and play a larger part in the community.

Through the Foundation, MLC is committed to identifying and delivering value and support to various non-profit organisations. Our support may be through funding, awareness and access to our employees for volunteer support. The MLC Community Foundation is a vehicle through which our employees can actively support causes they care about.

Our approach is to build relationships within our areas of focus by listening, understanding, sharing and, in effect, backing community organisations to fulfill their aspirations.

The MLC Community Foundation is looking to fund investments through its two community programs:

1. The Grants Program - aiming to make a difference to selected communities and causes through meaningful contributions and assistance;
2. The MLC People Program - aiming to encourage and support our employees in the work they do to help others in the community.

All programs in which the Foundation invests will have a link to all or some of the following themes:

• Advice - to help individuals or groups navigate their lives and deliver a positive contribution to the community
• Education - to help communities better understand issues that are preventing them from functioning in an effective or productive way
• Investing to protect the future - to contribute capacity, resources and skills to groups that are helping to deliver sustainable solutions for the community, thereby helping Australians overcome adversity.

The MLC Community Foundation operates under a Charitable trust which is incorporated in NSW. This limits our beneficiaries to registered Australian charities that hold deductible gift recipient (DGR) status. The Foundation is guided by the MLC Community Foundation Advisory Committee which is responsible for reviewing all submissions and will make its funding decisions for the benefit of the community that will be aligned to the goals and objectives of the Foundation.
